For 23 years, notorious circus punk outfit The World/Inferno Friendship Society held an annual Hallowmas party that was a dependable staple on all of New York’s late October calendars and show listings. Proudly identifying first and foremost as a gang of dangerous loonies who like to break things, they eventually settled into the easily definable genre of Vaudevillian Cabaret Mischief Cultists. Their grand Hallowmas events grew and grew & they always centered around the ritual of raising The Great Pumpkin. The act represented the band’s New Year’s, birthday, and Christmas all rolled into one. Each year, their cultishly devoted fans would descend upon Brooklyn to celebrate their big day. Tragically, all that came to a crashing halt when Jack Terricloth, their Halloween obsessed film noir crooner of a lead singer, passed away. This year, the World/Inferno community have planned a weekend of events to honor and celebrate their favorite dead punk rocker. On Monday October 31st, the community is gathering on Jack’s favorite holiday to observe their final service to The Great Pumpkin. Join us at St. Anne’s in downtown Brooklyn for a very special Halloween Mass.
